The College of Business at Montana State University Billings is becoming the premier business school in the upper Rocky Mountain region! The College has a rich, energetic faculty whose sole job is to make your business education experience as stimulating and dynamic as possible!
Montana State University Billings students placed in the top quintile of all student performance when measured recently by national business simulation student competition and CPA licensing examinations. Our curricular programs are designed to meet the needs of the regional business environment with delivery modalities in both traditional and non-traditional (on-line) forms. Dynamic, interactive teaching coupled with applied research is the College’s primary interest and responsibility. Rich, robust faculty-student interactions are the key factors in the stimulating learning environment that the College possesses.
Classroom discussion, work exercises, student internships and co-operative learning experiences provide the student with in-depth opportunities to combine the theoretical education coupled with practical application components. These formats allow the student opportunities to work with the local business community in enhancing their overall learning experience.
In any rich, robust business education, outcome assessment measures play a key role in determining actual learning achievement as well as identifying those areas in which greater pedagogical emphasis may be required. The academic programs of the College develop competencies/skills in the following areas:
- Oral and written communications
- Critical thinking
- Quantitative reasoning
- Utilization of information technology for business decision-making
Intellectual contributions by the College of Business faculty are primarily teaching coupled with applied research in their respective academic discipline. Our faculty participate in the greater University community as well as serve on numerous boards, volunteer positions, and leadership positions in the local community.
COB Business Advisory Board is one of the most active groups of industry leaders in Montana and helps the COB and the University forge ahead with academic excellence and meaningful outreach to the community.

COB Alumni are active in helping formulate the direction of accreditation and furthering student job and intern placement.
The COB Faculty Members have a strong presence in community affairs and are members of numerous professional and nonprofit organizations.
Business Community
The College of Business, with 800 undergraduate students, is the second largest College at Montana State University Billings.
The College has a high success rate with internships and job placement. Each year, approximately 75-100 students from the College of Business serve internships with participating businesses in the Billings trade area as well as across the country.
