Montana State University Billings hires College of Business Dean

Dr. Elaine Labach to assume role July 8

MSU BILLINGS NEWS—Montana State University Billings has named Elaine Labach, Ph.D., as the dean of the College of Business (COB).

Currently the dean of the Frost School of Business at Centenary College, Labach has also served as an associate dean and associate professor at Fort Lewis College.

Labach holds a Ph.D. in operations management from Indiana University School of Business; she also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Wayne State University.

“We look forward to having Dr. Labach’s leadership in the College of Business,” said MSU Billings Provost Melinda Arnold. “She will work to further strengthen and expand our relationships with the business community in Billings and eastern Montana.”

Members of the search committee for the dean of the College of Business were Susan Balter-Reitz, Mike Campbell, Rakesh Sah, Anna Talafuse, Mary Susan Fishbaugh, Heather Thompson, Sarah Keller and Shannon Wilcox.

Labach will officially begin the role of dean on July 8, taking over the helm from Ed Garding who has served as the interim dean of the COB since July 2018.
