MSU BILLINGS NEWS—Montana State University Billings recently presented a donation to Tumbleweed. Donations culminated from a holiday tree raffle held in December and organized by MSU Billings Staff Senate.

A $300 check was presented by Chancellor Edelman, Vice Chancellor Trudy Collins, and MSUB Staff Senate members to Schylar Baber, development manager for Tumbleweed.

This was the second year of the Staff Senate holiday tree raffle, with a different nonprofit benefactor each year. This is an outcome from an initiative implemented in 2017 by Staff Senate to reach out into the nonprofit community and provide assistance.

Staff Senate voted on Tumbleweed as the recipient for the 2018 event. Tumbleweed is a nonprofit, community based agency which provides services to runaway, homeless, and vulnerable youth and their families. Their goal is to end homelessness in the Billings community. “This program can directly impact students that may be attending MSUB, and we wanted to reach out to this particular nonprofit for that reason,” noted Sheri Steiner, Staff Senate Chair. “We were very excited to present a monetary gift to Tumbleweed to help in their mission.”
