MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Montana State University Billings is excited to announce the “Buzz is Back” with the return of homecoming. October 5-7, Jacket Homecoming will offer a variety of events both on and off campuses for students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the community.

Jacket Homecoming kicks off Friday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. with the MSU Billings Alumni Association hosting a relaunch and open house at the Alumni House, located at 2712 Normal Avenue. Alumni will be welcomed with a free BBQ and Alumni Discount Card to use at several partnering downtown Billings businesses. A sneak preview of the new website and newsletter, tour of the alumni house, and unveiling of the new alumni clothing line will be followed by a group photo at 5:30 p.m.

Across the street from the open house, all are welcome to join in an exciting game of flag football from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event is free, and teams will form upon arrival. Spectators are also welcome with several fun yard games set up in the vicinity.

Also beginning at 5 p.m. Club Art Collective at MSUB student and alumni artists will be displaying their work at the Art Walk Downtown Billings at 2905 Gallery at 2905 Montana Avenue. The exhibition will run until 9 p.m. and is open to the public.

Festivities continue on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. with the second annual MSUB Mile, a fun and engaging way to connect with the community, promote healthy lifestyles, and raise money for scholarships. The fun run/walk is open to participants of all levels and will start on the Cisel Lawn on University Campus. This mile will soon be an established route on campus that runners and walkers can use year round. Following the run, there will be an awards ceremony located on the SUB patio.

Yellowjacket athletic events for this year’s homecoming start on Saturday, Oct. 6. The women’s soccer team will take on Seattle Pacific University at 12:30 p.m. at City College. Free transportation will be available to and from University Campus and City College sponsored by Yellowjacket Athletics. Those riding the shuttle should meet in the Petro Hall parking lot and will depart at 12 p.m. The shuttle will depart from City College near the soccer field at the end of the women’s soccer game.

The men’s soccer team will take on Concordia University in an exciting matchup beginning at 3:30 p.m. at City College. Transport to and from this event from University Campus will also be available, departing from Petro Hall at approximately 2:30 p.m. and returning at the end of the men’s soccer game.

The soccer games will include a tailgate and spirit competition. Registration begins at 1 p.m., and the winners will be announced during halftime of the men’s soccer game. Hungry soccer fans can enjoy a meal from the Montana Melt food truck, which will be on-site from 12 p.m. until half time of the second game.

As the afternoon progresses, the eighth annual MSU Billings Evening At The Zoo will be held at Zoo Montana. The zoo grounds will be open to explore from 3 to 5 p.m., and live music will be provided by MSUB students and staff on the main stage, featuring live band “The Mandela Effect,” from 4 to 7 p.m. MSUB Dining Services will be serving taco in a bag from 5 to 7 p.m. Attendees are welcome to visit the mobile campus store, get a photo taken with Buzz, and are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and walking shoes for this fun-filled evening.

Back at the University Campus, the lady Yellowjacket volleyball team will face off against Central Washington University at 7 p.m. During the intermission of the game, there will be a student organization spirit competition for all to enjoy.

Saturday evening will wrap up with a Jacket Homecoming Dance for MSUB students in the Student Union Building’s Glacier Room and run from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Jacket Homecoming Weekend caps off on Sunday morning, Oct. 7 with a farm-to-fork brunch sponsored by MSUB Dining Services. Jacket Homecoming Weekend precedes MSU Billings’ first-ever Jacket Giving Day on Tuesday, Oct. 9. This annual day of giving will raise funds for university programs and projects.

MSU Billings is excited to be hosting these events and looks forward to seeing everyone. Be sure to spread the word about this year’s Jacket Homecoming!
