MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Montana State University Billings Department of Art student Rebecca Lee hosts her senior capstone solo exhibition March 19  - 29, 2018. The exhibition titled, Eating Up What's Eating You, will be displayed in the Student Gallery on the first floor of the Liberal Arts building.

An artist reception will be Thursday, March 22  from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Eating Up What’s Eating You explores the relationship between depression, anxiety and the human form. The works start as a vision of the artist’s own experiences with depression and anxiety and become corrupted with overwhelming fungal growth on the figure in a sterile and off-putting environment. In this body of work the umbrella cap fungi family play a big role in the exhibition. The mushroom’s purpose is to decompose and eat dead organic matter in order to make room for new life to flourish. In the compositions the mushrooms and figures have a symbiotic relationship; they cannot live without each other.

About the artist: Rebecca Lee is a contemporary painter working towards her Bachelors of Fine Arts at Montana State University Billings. She was born and raised in Billings, Montana and has been an aspiring artist all of her life. Rebecca has exhibited work nationally and globally including Corciano, Italy and Billings, Montana.
