MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — City College at Montana State University Billings will host a “We Serve” barbecue to celebrate veteran students and their families on Monday, Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m.

The barbeque is designed to welcome veteran students to campus and provides the opportunity to network with veteran-friendly employers, faculty and staff, and Chancellor Dr. Dan Edelman, who himself is an Army veteran.

This celebration is the culmination of a grant awarded by the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education to City College for the purpose of strengthening relationships with veterans on campus. The grant helped MSU Billings and City College discover new ways of partnering with our veteran students to continue to improve upon prior learning assessment, apprenticeship opportunities, and new services.

“By partnering with our veteran students, we are able to increase our impact both within the university and the community,” says Elizabeth Fullon, interim dean of City College and Air Force veteran. “We are grateful for their service, and it is an honor to serve them as they pursue higher education. The barbecue is a way of celebrating these students and building relationships with them.”

MSUB and City College veteran students and their families are invited to enjoy a complimentary meal, play lawn games, and win prizes. The barbecue will be Monday, Aug. 27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at City College.
