MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Two students from the MSUB Music Department will present their recitals on Sunday, Dec. 3 in Cisel Hall. Meranda Sargent will perform her Junior Vocal Recital at 3:00 p.m. with Belle Horman performing her Senior Horn Recital at 5:30 p.m.

Meranda has been singing since she was in first grade and began studying voice at MSUB Billings in 2012 with Douglas Nagel. She is majoring in Music Performance, with a minor in Organizational Communications.

When asked what keeps her coming back to MSU Billings Department of Music year after year, Meranda answered, “Everyone in the music department is my family. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the love and support they have offered me during my career at MSUB.”

Meranda will be performing pieces by artists Michael Head, George Gershwin, Robert Schumann, and Giacomo Puccini. She will sing Pie Jesus by Fauré, stating, “It is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever sung, and I get a little choked up every time I perform it.” She will be accompanied by Tim Schoessler, piano.

Belle is a 2012 graduate of Billings Senior High School. She is majoring in both Music Education and Music Performance at MSUB as a student of Mark Fenderson. Belle performs in the MSUB Symphonic and MSUB Pep bands and is currently a member of the Billings Community Band, the High Plains Brass Quintet, and her ensemble, Triohhhh.

Both recitals are open to the public and free of charge.
