MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Sheri Jarvis, director of the Montana Art Council's award-winning Montana Artrepreneur Program (MAP) will offer an overview of the Business of Art during a free workshop on Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in room 205 of the Liberal Arts Building on the Montana State University Billings campus.

 

The workshop is open to all MSUB students, faculty and staff, as well as the community.

 

MAP is a unique program to help artists develop a sustainable business in the arts that is taught by working artists to artists. The program is specifically designed to address the isolation practicing artist may feel by forming regional networks of creative professionals throughout the state.

 

Jarvis has a degree in organizational communication and fine art from MSUB. She grew up in Glasgow and is a practicing artist. Jarvis has owned and operated a seasonal bakery and coffee shop in Virginia City for eight years in addition to directing the MAP and serving on a number of state cultural boards.
