Dr. Wheeling officially assumes her position on July 1, 2013.

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mark Pagano and Chancellor, Dr. Rolf Groseth announced earlier this week that Dr. Barbara Wheeling will become the next College of Business Dean effective July 1, 2013.

Dr. Wheeling is currently the Associate Dean of Business at Emporia State University (ESU), Kansas.  She also teaches at ESU, serving as an Associate Professor in Accounting.  Wheeling holds a B.S. in Animal Science from North Dakota State University and M.B.A. from the University of Wyoming.  She attained her doctoral degree in Accounting from the University of Alberta in 1999.  Dr. Wheeling is no stranger Montana and the Mountain West as she has taught at Colorado State University and Southern Utah University before arriving at MSU Billings in 2004.  Wheeling spent nearly eight years teaching at MSU Billings, however, she may be best known for her tireless effort in helping MSU Billings attain accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).  AACSB is known, worldwide, as the longest standing, most recognized form of specialized/professional accreditation an institution and its business programs can earn.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Barbara Wheeling return to MSUB as our College of Business Dean,” commented an elated Provost Pagano.  “She is a proven leader with an outstanding track record in advancing the initiatives of her college.”

Dr. Wheeling is equally as excited to return to Billings, an area she affectionately refers to as the Nexus Of Business.  “This is where I am meant to be, business is everywhere in Billings and our region,” stated Wheeling.  “We have a thriving financial district, first-class medical facilities, the best retail in the area, and don’t forget our abundance of natural resources with oil, gas and agriculture leading the way.”

The city of Billings is witnessing substantial growth and the MSUB College of Business is poised to help our students and business community reach insurmountable success.

MSU Billings will host a formal introduction luncheon for Dr. Wheeling at the downtown campus on July 2 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  The business community, media, and alumni are welcome to attend the luncheon and a brief presentation by Dr. Wheeling.
