MSU Billings and the MSUB Science Expo continually endeavor to ensure the safest possible experience for all the Science Expo community.  With the added concerns surrounding Covid-19 we believe there exists additional, avoidable risks to our community.  It is in that frame of mind, we are excited to announce the 2021 MSUB Science Expo will be hosted online!

Unlike last year’s MSUB Science Expo that was moved to Facebook at the last minute, we have had an opportunity to plan for this transition and the expo will feature a digital judging event that involves our young scientists and a small panel (two or three) of judges.  The young scientists will present their projects to the judges through a video chat just as they would in person, and the judges will ask questions which the young scientists will be allowed to answer.

The deadline to register a project is February 5th 2021Registration deadline has been extended to February 19th at 5:00 PM!

The Virtual Science Expo will be held the evening of March 5th 2021

Awards will be announced March 6th 2021.

You may have noticed the date for the Science Expo has been moved this year.  This was done in collaboration with 4 other science fairs around the state of Montana.  We are excited to announce that for the first time, MSUB Science Expo will send a deserving young scientist to participate in the Montana State Fair hosted in Missoula MT, March 31st!  This is in addition to the project that we have always sent to compete in the national ISEF competition.

Many of your questions can be answered in the links here on our website.  If you have additional questions that are not addressed on this site, please reach out to MSUB Science Expo director Daniel Willems via email at
