Have you lost a personal item in the library? Have you found something belonging to someone else? Please speak with the Ask Here Desk on the library’s 2nd floor, or contact the library by calling 406-657-1662 or emailing library@msubillings.edu.

For items lost around campus, please contact the MSU Billings Police Department at 406-657-2147.

Non-valuable items

As a courtesy, we will hold non-valuable items—such as sunglasses, water bottles, USB flash drives, books, and chargers—for up to two weeks or until University Police transports them to their office in the MSU Billings Parking Garage (lower level). Loose papers, flashcards, and papers (with no identifying information) will be recycled or shredded after the two-week waiting period. Please refer to the University Police Found Property Procedure.

Valuable items

When a valuable item is turned in at the 2nd floor desk—including wallets, keys, ID cards (e.g., U-Cards, drivers’ licenses, passports), legal documents, phones, and jewelry—we first attempt to contact the item’s owner multiple times. If the owner cannot be reached within a reasonable timeframe, we turn the item over to University Police.
