FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS

Submit your FREE financial aid application to be eligible for the Yellowjacket Excellence Scholarship (YES) and other free aid! Need help with this step? Our team is happy to assist you, just give us a call! 

Over 91% of MSUB's first-time full-time freshman are awarded Aid!
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Apply for scholarships. The new and current student scholarship application opens December 1st for the next academic year. (Priority given to applications received by February 1st.)

MUST HAVES

New Direct Admit Students

After you have confirmed your acceptance to MSUB by completing the free online form/application, you will want to round up the following items. The Admissions Office at MSUB is happy to help you with any questions you might have when collecting these items.

▪ High School Transcripts/GED or HiSET scores for review
▪ Advanced Placement Scores (if you have taken these exams)
▪ ACT/SAT Scores (optional)
▪ Immunization Records (often printed on your High School transcript)
▪ College Transcripts (any previous courses taken in HS or with another institution)

Please submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Official transcripts can be sent through a secure electronic transcript service (Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, etc.) directly to MSU Billings or mailed directly by your previous institution to MSU Billings. Transcripts ordered and emailed to you then forwarded, mailed in unsealed envelopes, or faxed will be considered unofficial.

Official high school transcripts required for transfer students with under 60 semester or 72 quarter credits to receive financial aid. Those with an associate degree or 60+ semester / 72+ quarter credits are exempt.

Immunization Records & Official College Transcripts must be turned in before start of intended semester.

Students seeking a degree at MSUB are encouraged to sign up and participate in orientation.

STUDENT SUPPORT

Apply early for additional student support! MSUB offers various student support services and eligibility requirements may vary. Meeting with an advisor and program staff are highly encouraged. You may be eligible for the Montana 10 program!

ACADEMIC RECORDS & ADVISING

Submit high school transcripts and/or official transcripts from other colleges attended at least 1 week before your advising appointment or Fast Pass registration session.

Students seeking a degree at MSUB are required to meet with an advisor to develop a plan of study.

HOUSING

Apply for Housing online. Application opens December 1st. (Priority given to applications received before May 1st.)

REGISTER AND PAY FEES

Register for classes at a Fast Pass Registration Event and follow your plan of study. Following registration, arrange payment for tuition prior to the 3rd day of the semester to avoid being dropped. Make a payment plan online.

BOOKS

Order new or used books from the MSUB Campus Store. (*Students in campus programs are encouraged to work with their care teams regarding textbooks, laptops, and wifi hub lending).

Rolling Admission

MSU Billings has rolling admission, this means prospective students may apply at any time. However, we recommend you apply as soon as possible keeping in mind scholarship and financial aid priority deadlines.
