City College at MSU Billings offers hands-on, non-credit welding courses designed to introduce foundational welding skills, shop safety, and industry-relevant practices. Training takes place in City College’s fully equipped welding labs and is led by experienced instructors with real-world expertise.

Two courses are currently offered: Introduction to Welding, which covers core welding processes and general shop practices, and Introduction to TIG Welding, which focuses on the fundamentals of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Together, these courses support career exploration, workforce entry, and skill development for adults interested in welding and the skilled trades.

Introduction to Welding

Introduction to Welding is a 32-hour, hands-on, non-credit course that introduces core welding processes, shop safety, and industry-relevant practices. This course is ideal for individuals new to welding or those seeking to build practical skills for employment or further technical training.

  • Individuals exploring careers in welding or skilled trades
  • Adults seeking hands-on technical skills
  • Incumbent workers looking to strengthen foundational welding knowledge
  • No prior welding experience required

Introduction to TIG Welding

Introduction to TIG Welding is a 20-hour non-credit course combining classroom instruction and lab-based training. The course introduces the fundamentals of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and focuses on precision welding techniques and safe shop practices.
