MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES —  Anyone who has had a break in their education careers — whether it is a few months or a few years —can get a boost before heading back to college with a special free workshop next week at Montana State University Billings.

Student Opportunity Services/TRIO at MSU Billings is sponsoring a “Return to Learn” seminar on Aug. 29-30 at the MSU Billings main campus. The program is free and is available to any student, but is designed especially for students who have been out of school for a while and who are interested in either entering or returning to college.

Presentations and activities focus on making the transition to college pleasant, meaningful and less stressful. Prospective students have the opportunity to learn about financial aid, study skills, college resources and career options. Adult learners, transfer students and students with disabilities will find the “Return to Learn” seminar helpful and enjoyable.

“Return to Learn” will be held in the Liberal Arts Building, room 205, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 29-30. Although pre-registration is not required, it is appreciated.

For more information on the seminar, contact Barb Waters, academic coordinator for Student Opportunity Services/Trio, at 657-1675 or by e-mail at barbara.waters@msubillings.edu. SOS/TRiO is funded through the U.S. Department of Education and serves about 250 students a year through mentorships, tutoring and support at MSU Billings.

Faculty and students are now gearing up for a busy 2011-12 academic year. Residence halls open on Sunday, Sept. 4 and classes begin on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
