Students in a classroomThe College of Business (COB) at Montana State University Billings is quickly becoming the premier business school in the upper Rocky Mountain region.  Energetic faculty are dedicated to making business education dynamic and relevant.

Our students succeed!  During the last several years COB students have placed among the top three  in the Capsim international business simulation competition, going up against students from Baylor, Cornell, Dartmouth, and Brigham Young University. Since 2004,  our marketing students have won numerous Addy Awards for the advertising campaigns they have created.  MSUB business students excel even beyond the classroom.

COB faculty members are dedicated to providing the best education possible in the Rocky Mountain region.  Classroom discussions, state-of-the-art computer training, student internships, co-operative learning experiences, and client consultations provide students with hands-on opportunities to apply theory to the real world.  In the College of Business, faculty both teach students and mentor them through applied business projects. Dynamic faculty-student interactions create a learning environment that prepares students for success in the  world of business.

In any rich, robust business education, outcome assessment measures play a key role in determining actual learning achievement as well as identifying those areas in which greater pedagogical emphasis may be required.  The academic programs of the College develop competencies/skills in the following areas:

  • Oral and written communications
  • Quantitative skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Technology
  • Ethical decision-making
  • Global mindset
  • Business knowledge

Intellectual contributions by the College of Business faculty are primarily teaching coupled with applied research in their respective academic discipline.  Our faculty participate in the greater University community as well as serve on numerous boards, volunteer positions, and leadership positions in the local community.

COB Business Advisory Board is one of the most active groups of industry leaders in Montana and helps the COB and the University forge ahead with academic excellence and meaningful outreach to the community.

The COB Faculty Members have a strong presence in community affairs and are members of numerous professional and nonprofit organizations.
