Billings is the largest city in the State of Montana, and is the principal city of the Billings Metropolitan Area with a population of over 165,000. It has a trade area of over half a million people.
Billings is located in the south-central portion of the state and is the county seat of Yellowstone County. Surrounded by six breathtaking mountain ranges, Billings also offers plenty of opportunities for fresh air recreation, including hiking, biking, golf and viewing rare Montana wildlife.
Montana State University Billings is comprised of the University campus and the City College campus. The 92 acre University campus sits at the foot of majestic rimrocks overlooking the city of Billings. Two residence halls connected to the Student Union Building and one family housing apartment complex provide housing to students. Home of the Yellowjackets, the Alterowitz Gymnasium houses a 4,000 seat arena, a practice gymnasium, a collegiate size swimming pool, an enclosed running track and racquetball courts.
