Welcome to MSU Billings

The Yellowjacket community is excited that you are starting your academic journey at MSUB! You are joining a welcoming campus community who holds a shared vision to support you in your education, career, and beyond! Registration and orientation is requiredfor all new, incoming students and is designed to provide academic advising, introduce students to their degree requirements, aid students in course registration, and prepare them to join the Yellowjacket family. 

STEP 1: Fall Course Registration and Fast Pass Sessions

All new incoming students will register for courses before the start of the Fall 2024 semester. 

Freshman and Adult Learners will RSVP for a Fast Pass Registration session on the Freshman & Adult Learners page. Fast Pass Registration sessions are reserved for first-time freshman and adult learners allowing for hands-on guidance from New Student Specialists and Advising teams.

Transfer students will work directly with advisors to register for courses once official transcripts have been received. More information is available on the Transfer Student page.

*All students are highly encouraged to be registered for the Fall term prior to attending New Student Orientation.

STEP 2: RSVP for New Student Orientation (August 8-9th)

New Student Orientation is seperate from registration and is designed for all new incoming first-time freshmen, adult learners, and transfer students. This two-day event is designed to welcome you as a new student and provides meaningful sessions, timely information, and activities where you'll meet new Yellowjackets, explore student service programs, master the art of navigating campus programs, preview college clubs and organizations, and participate in workshops that prepare you for your first year at MSU Billings. Orientation will also connect you with campus resources, residence hall advisors, and meet new friends and a fun way to explore all MSU Billings has to offer. Parents and supporters are welcome to attend!
*Students who pre-register for the Fall Kickoff event during New Student Orientation will guarantee their MSUB Fall Kickoff pack before supplies run out.

STEP 3: RSVP for the Fall Kickoff Event (Sept. 3rd)

The Fall Kickoff event is one of the most anticipated events of the year and RSVP's will open on August 1st! The Fall Kickoff provides the opportunity to meet your professors, staff, and fellow new students. Wear your event tee and find other students who attend your college! The Kickoff is full of free giveaways, food trucks, student clubs, and engaging activities hosted by MSUB professors and campus programs. Bring a friend and embrace the college vibes!
*Be among the first 400 students to pre-register (online or at Orientation), and you'll have early access to score your Kickoff pack on move-in day (Sept. 1st), guaranteeing your VIP access (free food truck tickets, kickoff t-shirt, and more)!
