Science Under the Big Sky

Spend your summer engaged in lab research and bring real-world scientific inquiry back to your classroom!

The Partners in Science program is open to Montana in-service teachers who are currently working in middle school and high school science positions as well as pre-service teachers who are completing their training in science education.

2026 Application is open March 16 – April 19

Teachers accepted into the program will receive:

  • Mentored Research Experience: Work with MSUB faculty mentors on scientific projects connected to our local environment and community over the course of two summers.
  • Professional Development: Translate the scientific inquiry skills you learn into engaging research for students.
  • Community Interaction: Join a community of local and regional science educators who are passionate about engaging 6-12 students in scientific inquiry.
  • Funding: Funding is available for travel (rural participants), classroom supplies (in-service participants), and a generous stipend for your time engaging in the research program (all participants!).
