Front Desk Staff

Front Desk Staff are front-line receptionists and perform some clerical work for the ASC, assisting faculty, staff, students, and employers in understanding the department’s services and resources.  This position provides accurate and helpful information to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, employers, and the public and acts as a liaison between students and staff across campus, providing accurate referrals and in-depth knowledge of campus departments and resources. Job requirements: HS diploma and 1 year of general office/clerical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Peer Navigator

ASC Peer Navigators help to create an inclusive and supportive environment for a cohort of new students and continuing student peers. Peer Navigators will develop relationships with members of their cohort to assist with understanding the college culture. Peer Navigators help peers navigate college life, connect them with appropriate campus resources and services, and make them aware of all of the tools available to help them be a successful student at MSU Billings.  Job requirements:  current MSUB student with one or more semesters of coursework completed: minimum 2.5 GPA 

Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program that targets difficult courses. SI sessions are regularly scheduled, out-of-class review sessions for all students enrolled in a targeted course. The sessions are informal seminars in which students review notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and prepare for examinations. The SI sessions are facilitated by SI Leaders, students who are prepared to share with students how to effectively study for the course and how to maximize their potential for academic success. Job requirements: current MSUB student preferred; minimum 3.5 GPA in supported course; knowledge and coursework in a specific content area; faculty recommendation encouraged

Tutor (Specialty and STEM)

Specialty and STEM tutors provide academic support via 1:1 and group tutoring to students in a variety of undergraduate courses. Tutors assist in student learning and retention through the facilitation of tutoring sessions that help students better understand concepts and application of course content. Job requirements: minimum collective 3.0 GPA or completion of Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field; satisfactory completion (grade of B+ or higher) of qualifying Specialty or STEM-related coursework; faculty recommendation appreciated.

Writing Tutor

Writing Tutors support learning by facilitating student-centered writing tutoring sessions in face-to-face and online formats. Students seek support with writing across the curriculum, including class assignments, as well as out-of-class materials. Writing Tutors provide feedback and resources for higher order and lower order writing concerns and support students to become confident, independent writers. Job requirements: minimum collective 3.0 GPA or completion of Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field; satisfactory completion (grade of B+ or higher) of qualifying writing-related coursework; writing sample required; faculty recommendation appreciated
