MSU Billings Extended Campus to offer class on Bitcoin

Class to take place on Monday, October 1

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Have you ever wanted to learn more about cryptocurrency and blockchain? Montana State University Billings Extended Campus is giving you the opportunity to do so on Monday, October 1from 6-8:00 p.m.!

 

Virtual currencies and the blockchain underlying them have become increasingly popular over the last several years and it is indicated that virtual currencies are becoming mainstream.

 

Introduction to Cryptocurrency 101 will help attendees understand the virtual currency phenomenon, with a special focus on Bitcoin. Topics presented in easy-to-understand language include: Is Bitcoin money? How is Bitcoin created? How can I purchase and store Bitcoin? What are the uses and advantages of Bitcoin? What are the risks associated with Bitcoin? In addition, specific regulations at the state and federal level for Bitcoin users will be discussed.

 

Jennifer Moffitt, an attorney who specializes in blockchain and digital currency, will lead the class during the evening. Moffitt has authored articles for Cointelegraph, a leading virtual currency website. She has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California Berkeley, a master’s in International Studies from the University of Otago in New Zealand and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego. Moffitt is licensed to practice in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado.

 

Introduction to Virtual Currency 101 will take place in the College of Education, room 122. Cost for the class is $39.
