MSU Billings to offer new course on Heart Mountain Relocation Center

MSU BILLINGS NEWS—Montana State University Billings will be offering a course about the Heart Mountain Relocation Center in the spring of 2019.

 

Geared toward anyone who has an interest in history or learning more about the Heart Mountain Internment Site, the public is invited to join Dr. Susan Gilbertz, professor of geography at MSU Billings, to explore the cultural context, internees, camp workers, physical geography, and social geography of the location.

 

The class will meet each Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. from Jan. 16 to April 3 in LA 311. There will be a one-day field trip to Heart Mountain on March 16. Students will create a museum-ready product to present to the Heart Mountain museum director for the conclusion of the course.

 

The cost is $179 and includes a course book and transportation to Heart Mountain.
