Triva contests, readings celebrate ‘Star Wars’ Reads Day this week at MSU Billings

 

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — The Montana State University Billings Library will join more than 1,200 bookstores and other libraries across the country this week for special events, trivia contests and readings centered on Star Wars.

 

The events kick off on Thursday, Oct. 4 with “Star Wars Trivia Night” and HEROES TGIT event. The team competition runs from 6-8 p.m. at the MSU Billings Library. It is free and features pizza and prizes. Teams can register at the library.

 

''On Friday, Oct. 5, the library staff pulls out all the stops for Star War Reads Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the library will feature a variety of Star Wars books, drawings and refreshments. Morning treats will include “Clone Scones,” “Landonuts,” and “Princess Leia Danish Dos.” Drinks will include “Hoth Chocolate,” “Tatooine Tea” and “Dark Side Coffee.” That afternoon, visitors can stop by for “Yoda Sodas” and “Meteorites” cleverly disguised as popcorn.


           
Events on Saturday, Oct. 6, focus on kids with a variety of activities to encourage reading for children. Running from 10 a.m. to noon, the games include an “Asteroid Hunt,” “Light Saber Training,” “Pass the Death Star,” “Alien Face Painting,” “Jedi Training,” and “Starfighter Training.”

 

The events are a perfect way for Star Wars fans and book lovers to unite around the franchise. There are more than 120 million Star Wars books in print and more than 110 Star Wars titles have been New York Times bestsellers.
