What was your major/program of study?

I started college by obtaining an Associate's Degree while working full-time to pay for tuition, right out of high school.  After this degree, I decided to take some time off and work.  About seven years later, I felt I was ready to go back to college.  As an older, nontraditional student I received my Bachelor's of Science in Sociology & Anthropology from MSU Bozeman while working three-quarters to full-time.  Fast forward a few more years and I completed my Master's in Public Administration at MSU Billings while working full-time and taking care of a busy family.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

I enjoy creating artwork, listening to music, learning new things, and spending time with my husband, two boys, and our dogs.

Where are you from?

I am from Elko, Nevada, but I call Montana home after living in Livingston and Billings, Montana a majority of my life.

What was your major/program of study?

I graduated from MSU Billings with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. I am continuing my education at MSUB to obtain a Master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. As the first of my family to complete high school, attending MSUB as a first-generation college student was challenging. I heavily relied on coffee and resources available on and off campus such as TRIO, faculty, and staff. I worked four jobs and attended MSUB full-time for four years. I ended my journey as the Outstanding Senior in Human Services, Peer Educator of the year for my work as a Peer Mentor at TRIO SSS, Newman Civic Fellow, and Outstanding President of the Year as the Student Activities Board Chairperson.

What inspired you to work at TRIO SSS?

My passion is to help others and that lead me to my position as an Academic Counselor for City College TRIO SSS.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

In my free time, I love spending time with my niece and nephew by going to parks and eating ice cream, discovering the wilderness through camping, traveling the states, and baysitting all my littles.

I will end with one of my favorite motivational quotes that keeps me going:
"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for. A ship in port is safe; but that is not what ships are built for." —John A. Shedd and Albert Einstein
