Janice Wilson

Visiting Scholar Week: February 23 – 27, 2026

Janice Wilson is a dedicated educator and cultural knowledge keeper currently teaching in the Wyola School District. She serves as a Crow Culture and Visual Arts instructor and a 5th Grade Reading teacher, with additional experience supporting ESL learners. A graduate of Lodge Grass High School, Janice earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern Montana College (MSU Billings). She has helped develop culturally grounded curricula, including an Adult Education curriculum with Raphaelle He Does It. Janice led the Crow Lullaby Project through an Office of Public Instruction grant and has collaborated with Dr. Lanny Real Bird on educational DVDs focused on Crow storytelling, Native plants, and lullabies. Her work centers on preserving Crow language, stories, and cultural teachings for future generations. In 2017, she was honored as Montana Indian Educator of the Year and recognized by the Superintendents and Administrators of Montana.
