US State Department Website—Good Explanation of American schools
overseas—they are independent, nongovernmental schools. Provides
link to Department of Defense Schools, as well as a fact sheet on
specific schools overseas. Most importantly, it takes you to a link
that discusses companies that recruit for American schools overseas.

Homepage of the Hong Kong Education and Manpower Bureau. HK recruits
foreign teachers, called NETS, for placement in both the locally
run primary and secondary schools. Contracts are for two years;
most contractual details can be gleaned from this page. The salary
for these job posts are among the highest in the world. Mandatory
retirement at the age of 60.

The EPIK program is a Korean program run by the government similar
to the HK NET program. The goal of EPIK is to place teachers in
local schools to train both students and teachers. Very reliable
and the cultural experience is excellent. No age specifications
listed.

The JET program is a Japanese program run by the government, again
similar to the HK NET and the Korean EPIK programs. The goal of
this program is to place native speaking English teachers, called
JETS, in local government organizations throughout Japan. This is
a very prestigious program that usually results in excellent experiences.
Must be under 40 years of age.

Home of AAC, this website provides information for opportunities
to teach or study abroad. It seems to focus mainly on teaching jobs
in Asia, but it does have a job board with worldwide listings. It
provides a detailed summary about what to expect with regard to
visas, taxes, etc. when teaching in each of the different Asian
countries. This site also offers a free placement service for jobs
in Taiwan.

Provides important information on recruitment conference, international
symposiums, and professional development. Get a discounted student
