Applying for Teaching
Jobs:
Standard Application Process (SAP)
It is important to recognize that the application process for each
school district may be slightly different. Be sure to follow application
procedures exactly, because your application may be eliminated if
you don't. Vacancies sometimes say "SAP" under application
instructions.
Typically, a teaching vacancy involves some or all
of these SAP items:
Applicant sends:
- A
cover letter
(also called a "letter of application" or
"letter of interest")
- Résumé
- Unofficial transcript for initial screening
- District application, or state Universal application
Career Services sends at request of student:
- Credential file or letters of recommendation
Occasionally, you may be asked for a copy of your teaching license
or certificate
as part of the application process. Be sure to take your Portfolio
to the interview, and make it available if appropriate.
