Seven-Run Third Inning Lifts Northern Colorado to 7-2 Victory Over MSUB

GREELEY, Colo. – Seven runs in the third inning propelled Northern Colorado to a 7-2 victory over Montana State Billings in the nightcap of a twinbill Saturday afternoon. With the loss, MSUB falls to 1-6 on the year, while UNC improves to 3-0.
MSUB had three hits in the game, including a two run single by Andrew Hernandez in the top of the seventh, plating Bryce Thomas and Jesse Finley who singled and walked, respectively, earlier in the inning.
The damage was done in the third inning as Yellowjacket hurler, Brian Howe (0-1), surrendered nine hits, seven earned runs, two walks and three strikeouts through three innings of work. In that frame, the Bears had a two RBI single, a two RBI double and a RBI triple to highlight the scoring.
Stefan Malkuch pitched the rest of the way for MSUB, allowing just two hits and fanning two batters.
