MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES —Montana State University Billings is about to commence a Buzzin’ Beyond Billings tour of Eastern Montana – the first of its kind from this university. MSUB staff, faculty and administrators will be making stops in Miles City, Glendive, Sidney and Poplar to connect with each community over three days.

All tour events are free and open to the public. Alumni, students, families and friends are welcome to attend the following activities:

  • Miles City – July 24: From 12 to 1 p.m., the MSU Billings group will be at Miles Community College for a free luncheon lecture. Hear updates from both institutions and stay for an alumni and community focus group from 1 to 1:30 p.m.
  • Glendive –July 24: The next stop is Glendive Public Library with a free ice cream social from 5 to 7 p.m. Special guest Dr. Keith Edgerton will present the “History of Homesteading in Eastern Montana.” The following morning, alumni and community members are invited to another focus group from 7 to 8 a.m. at the Yellowstone River Inn.
  • Sidney –July 25: The bus makes two stops in Sidney. At MonDak Heritage Center, they’ll host another free luncheon lecture from 12 to 1 p.m. Dr. Edgerton will again give a special presentation of the “History of Homesteading in Eastern Montana.” Come beforehand for an alumni and community focus group from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

Next, they’ll visit the Sidney Health Center for a free taco social from 5 to 7 p.m. Hear updates from MSUB as well as the unique story of a local student taking college classes through the University Connections program.

  • Poplar –July 26: The final stop of our tour is Fort Peck Community College in Poplar with a free pancake breakfast from 10 to 11 a.m. The tour concludes with an alumni and community focus group from 11 a.m. to noon.

New MSU Billings Chancellor Dan Edelman is accompanying the Buzzin’ Beyond Billings tour and hopes to meet people from all over Eastern Montana as the group travels the region.

“Many MSU Billings students and alumni have deep roots in Eastern Montana. Often they’ve had to come to Billings to learn about the great things we’re doing on campus. Now, we’re coming to them in force – to meet them on the plains of our state face-to-face. We want to connect with Eastern Montana communities and the families and friends of our Yellowjackets, past and future. Our aim is to raise awareness, entice prospective students, and strengthen relationships with the people who matter most to our University,” said Chancellor Edelman.

University athletics, recruitment, development, alumni, and others will also be on the bus from Billings.

Tour activities are sponsored by the MSU Billings Foundation, MSU Billings, Miles Community College, Cross Petroleum, MonDak Heritage Center, Sidney Health Center, and Fort Peck Community College.

RSVPs to (406) 247-5781 or alumni@msubillings.edu are appreciated, but not required.
