MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Recently, Montana State University Billings Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry (YEP) received an $8,000 donation from race proceeds of the Run! Turkey Run! race. Other beneficiaries included Meals on Wheels, Family Service, Inc., and Billings BackPack Program.

The mission of the Run! Turkey Run! race is to combat hunger in the Billings community. At the check presentation, race organizers shared how in selecting this year’s beneficiaries they knew they were reaching children, families, and the elderly, but they hadn’t reached an important sector of the community—college students. This spurred them to add Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry of MSUB as the fourth beneficiary this year.

Run! Turkey Run! is hosted by the Yellowstone Rim Runners, a local running club. Each year, several thousand people run or walk in the Run! Turkey Run! race.

To date, Run! Turkey Run! has raised over $170k in the fight against hunger. The race began in 2011, spearheaded by a student at Billing Senior High School who saw the need and opportunity in the community.

Organizers hope to gift $10,000 to each beneficiary in 2018.
