MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Dr. Diane Duin has been named Vice President for Academics at Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D. She will begin her role as VPA on July 1, 2018.

Duin, who joined MSU Billings in 2006 as a faculty member in the Health Administration program, advanced to become dean of the College of Allied Health Professionals (CAHP) in 2009.  Duin developed key community partnerships and understood the importance of offering courses and programs to meet the needs of the area healthcare industry.

She developed new programs for MSUB, including a 12-credit Long-Term Care Management Certificate program. Another example of her forward-thinking and meeting industry needs, was the establishment of the RN to BSN Degree Completion Program, which allows associate degreed nurses to earn a bachelor’s of nursing in three semesters.

In addition to Dean of CAHP role, Duin has also simultaneously served as the Interim Dean of the College of Business since June 2017. Her ability to foster good relationships both on campus and in the Billings community have benefitted the colleges.

Outside of her many dean responsibilities, Duin was involved with numerous accreditation initiatives.

“Dean Duin has been a strong leader and innovator at MSUB.  The students, faculty, staff as well as the Billings Health and Business Communities will be sorry to see her move on” shared Dr. Robert Hoar, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. “The leadership skills and experience that she has amassed is impressive and it is no surprise that another institution has asked her to move up to the next administrative level.”

Her degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of South Dakota, a Master of Health Administration in Health Services Administration from Trinity University, San Antonio, TX, and a Ph.D. in Rural Sociology from South Dakota State University.

Interim Chancellor Ron Larsen stated “MSU Billings will continue its tradition of recruiting and developing exceptional leaders. Dr. Duin fulfilled important roles for the University, for the College of Allied Health Professions, and for the College of Business. The University will begin immediately its process to review these future vacancies and determine next steps on a search.”
