12th annual MSUB Library Quilt Show, running from Jan. 20 to Feb 26, at the MSUB university campus, 1500 University Drive

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — As a past participant of the Montana Stata University Billings Library Quilt Show, Nancy Sasse will once again likely pack up one of her favorite multi-layered textiles and enter it into the show.

Although the show won’t begin for a few weeks, the MSUB Library has officially announced a call for entries.

Quilters of all ages and levels are welcome to participate in the non-juried, open, inclusive and free event, which is open to students, faculty, staff and members of the Billings community. In the past, several dozen quilts have been displayed, making the library a popular destination for community groups wanting to see the variety of color, fabric texture and layout and overall workmanship in the stitch.

All eras, styles and sizes of quilts are accepted into the show, as are family heirlooms.

Sasse, of Billings, said the open and relaxed environment of the quilt show is part of its appeal and what makes going to much fun.

“Anyone can bring in anything and when, a beginner sees something and says ‘I can do that,’ well, this show really opens the art up to everyone. It’s made accessible to all, and that’s important,” Sasse said.

There is no entry fee to participate in the non-juried show. However, participants are encouraged to provide titles and artists names for their entries, along with a story or history of the quilt.

The library will be accepting quilts for display from Jan 4 to Jan. 14., between the hours of 8a.m. and 5p.m., Monday through Friday.

The quilt show will be free and open to the public from Jan. 20 to Feb. 26. during regular library hours.
