MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — The Women’s and Gender Studies Center at Montana State University Billings will host an open house on April 21 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Liberal Arts building, room 201.

Open House invitation

The event celebrates the official opening of the Women’s and Gender Studies Center, which was approved by the Montana Board of Regents in November. The Center supports programs and research, which examines the status, expectations and achievements of women on a local, regional and national level.

“The Center is committed to providing support, programs and resources related to women and education, career opportunities, women’s health, elevating the image and self-esteem of women and promoting gender equality,” said the Center’s director, Dr. Jennifer Lynn. “Through close cooperation with faculty, staff, students and the larger community, the Center is dedicated to promoting equality and social justice in all forms while focusing on the needs of women at MSU Billings and in the community.”

During the open house event, the Center will also hold an open roundtable discussion from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a focus on issues relevant to women on campus, women’s and gender studies, the campus climate survey and policies which impact women on a local, state and national level. MSUB students will also have poster presentations related to their women’s studies minor senior capstone course.
