Resident Ceramic Artists' work

 

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Montana State University Billings Potters’ Guild will host ceramic artists from the Red Lodge Clay Center on Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 in the Art Annex from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Art Annex is located on the corner of Poly and 27th Street. 

 

Each year, the Red Lodge Clay Center accepts four resident artists whom are committed individuals in transition from post baccalaureate studies to graduate school, as well as those pursuing the development of professional artistic careers. Accepted residents are provided with studio space, housing, utilities, and a monthly stipend in exchange for twenty hours of work per week at the Clay Center.

 

This year’s residents, Alexis Gregg, Tanner Coleman, Karin Solberg, Megan Mitchell, and Brittany Helmswill be demonstrating ceramic techniques both on and off the potter’s wheel.  Participants will have the opportunity to practice techniques such as printing on clay, making sprig molds, and carving approaches.  Materials and tools provided. 

 

The schedule is as follows: 

  • Friday, March 29, Alexis/Tanner and Karin
  • Saturday, March 30, Brittany and Megan

There will be slide presentations of their work and practices at lunchtime.  Plan to bring a bagged lunch.
