"Doing mathematics should always mean finding patterns and crafting beautiful and meaningful explanations."
- Paul Lockhart
My teaching philosophy focuses on putting aside disembodied symbol manipulations and focusing in on the core fundamental and motivating ideas. By attaining a conceptual understanding of a subject, we observe that our formal expressions are simply the vessels through which transcendent ideas express themselves.
Mathematical methodology involves casting aside suprious distractions and details to discover fundamental truths, and it is time our teaching reflects this.
