Remember that the application process may differ by school district; for example, some districts require online applications only while others prefer paper applications.  Be sure to comply exactly with application procedures to ensure your application is not rejected!

Vacancies sometimes say "SAP" under application instructions.  Typically, a teaching application involves some or all of these "SAP" documents:

Applicant sends:

  • A cover letter (also called a "letter of application" or "letter of interest")
  • Résumé
  • Unofficial transcript for initial screening
  • District application, or state Universal application; see MT OPI.

Occasionally, you may be asked for a copy of your teaching license or certificate as part of the application process. Be sure to take your Portfolio to the interview, and make it available if appropriate.
