Cross Country Finishes Strong at MSU Fleet Feet Invitational

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State Billings men’s and women’s cross country teams finished strong at the Montana State Fleet Feet Invitational Saturday. The Yellowjacket women finished eighth in the team standings out of 13 teams, while the men finished ninth out of 12 teams.
On the women’s side, Lisa Minnehan was the first two finish the three-mile run for the Yellowjackets in 43rd place with a time of 19:07. Leah Thompson finished second on the team in 49th place with a time of 19:20. Weber State won on the women’s side, but Utah Valley State’s Mary Nothum won the race with a time of 17:10, beating Montana’s Katrina Drennen by nine seconds.
In terms of the team standings, the women defeated Dickinson State, University of Great Falls, Carroll College, Rocky and Flathead Valley Community College. The Yellowjackets were just behind Concordia College for the top finishing non-Division I school.
The MSUB men were led by Daniel Lombardi who finished 47th with a time of 27:07. He was followed by Ryan Blombeck who was 66th with a time of 28:27. Patrick Casey of Montana State won on the men’s side as he had a time of 24:54, edging Lynn Reynolds of Montana by one second in the five-mile run.
The Yellowjackets will be back in action Sept. 25 at the Dickinson State Invitational. MSUB is scheduled to host the Yellowjacket Invitational on Oct. 10 at Riverfront Park. In addition, the annual Fun Run also will be run. The Fun Run begins at 9 a.m., followed by the Yellowjacket Invitational beginning at 10 a.m.
