Class Notes Fall2015

Kevin Smith resides in Herriman, Utah where he works as an attorney for Arminta Financial.  A 1992 graduate from EMC, Smith has been an attorney for an international trading and finance company for 15 years.

 

Jessica Frazier (Freeman) makes her home in Helena, Montana, where she is a Financial Advisor for Northwestern Mutual.  She attended MSUB from 2005-2008.

Sylvia Noble, business engagement manager at Elation, successfully completed the Associate Certified Coach exam through the International Coach Federation. ICF credentials are awarded to professional coaches who have met stringent education and experience requirements and have demonstrated mastery of the coaching competencies. With ICF credentials, Elation coaches demonstrate not only knowledge and skill, but also a commitment to high professional standards and a strong code of ethics when partnering with clients to inspire them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

 

Maggie Reisig joined PayneWest Insurance as a personal lines sales executive in the Billings office. She graduated in 2014 from Montana State University Billings with a degree in human services.

 

Joe Foster of Montana City and Deb Whitcomb of Helena are proud to announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Jaclyn Foster, to Bryan Haven, son of Terry and Penny Haven of Billings.


Jaclyn graduated from the University of Colorado-Denver in 2013. She is a genetic counselor at Shodair Children's Hospital.

Bryan graduated from Montana State University-Billings in 2010. He is a police officer for the city of Helena.  A June 2016 wedding is planned.

 

Rob Edwards is the new community engagement program officer at Missoula Aging Services, one of several recent position changes which support strategic plans to effectively serve increasing numbers of older adults. Edwards is responsible for program planning, organizing, operating and staffing for the Montana Senior Medicare Patrol, Senior Corps and Nutrition programs, as well as the MAS volunteer coordinator position. He also serves as a member of the management team. Edwards received a B.S. in business administration from the University of Montana and pursued graduate studies at Montana State University-Billings in health administration.

 

Three Eastern Montanans have been named to the national board of directors for the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance.

 

Linda Harris, CPA, has been named president-elect. Harris, owner of Linda E. Harris, CPA, PC, in Absarokee, does taxes for individuals and corporations, small businesses financials and nonprofit work as well as bookkeeping and payroll. An AFWA member since 1992, Harris has served as the local chapter president and on most chapter committees. Harris joined the National Foundation board and was chair from 2005 to 2007. Harris was appointed by the governor to serve on the Board of Public Accountants for the State of Montana and is currently serving a second term as board chair.

 

Renee Richards, CPA, has been named as a board director. An AFWA member since 2004, Richards has served on Billings AFWA Chapter’s board of directors, has been a regional director for three years and an AFWA National board member for the past two years. Richards is also a member of the Montana Society of CPAs. She owns Renee Simmons, PC, in Billings and specializes in construction accounting.

 

Christie Lininger has also been named as a board director. Lininger is the president of BookEnds Inc. in Billings. BookEnds Inc. is a local bookkeeping and payroll service that also offers Quickbooks training. An AFWA member since 2006 and a donor of The Foundation since 2006, Lininger has served on the Billings Chapter’s board of directors in many capacities and as president in 2013. Lininger is also a member of the Foundation of AFWA’s educational advancement and scholarship committees, Mary Craig Scholarship golf committee chair and member of the Mardi Gras Montana committee.

 

The AFWA promotes the professional growth of women in accounting and finance. Members of the nationwide association, which has been in existence for more than 75 years, benefit from opportunities to connect with colleagues, advance their careers and become industry leaders. The AFWA Foundation promotes and advances education, career development and leadership in finance and accounting. Karla Mahan lives in Billings, Montana.  She attended EMC from 1987-1990 and is retired from Corporate Financial Planning.

 

Lisa Reid Perry resides in Huntley, Montana.  She is a Manager of Customer Relations for NorthWestern Energy.  She attended from 1982-86, 2010-2015.

 

Bekir Memo Undes currently lives in Billings, Montana.  He works as the Regional Director of Operations for InterMountain Management LLC where he manages the overall operation of a portfolio of 18 Marriott and Hilton hotels in 12 states.

Shyla Braaten is currently working as a Habilitation Technician in Plains, Montana.

Stephanie Thome resides in Fountain Hills, AZ.  She works as a Financial Auditor for the State of Arizona Office of the Auditor General.  An MSUB student from 2012-2015, she notes “After graduating from MSUB in May 2015, I am currently working for the Auditor General in Arizona, completing audits of state agencies, universities, and community colleges. I am also working on my Master's Degree in Forensic Accounting online through Florida Atlantic University. I am expected to graduate in Fall 2018.”
