MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES —  The Montana State University Billings Office of International Studies will host the 15th Annual International Food Fair this Thursday (March 22) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

MSUB’s Office of International Studies partners with MSUB Dining Services (Sodexo) to provide international students the opportunity to introduce their culture through everyone’s favorite medium – food! In this one-day event, international students take over the kitchen at MSUB’s Rimrock Café to prepare regional dishes from around the world.

“This year we are excited to have some different countries represented at the fair including Kenya and Pakistan” shared Neil Beyer, International Marketing and Outreach Specialist. “Students will showcase their various talents and skills to prepare foods from their home countries.”

Other countries represented include Bulgaria, China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea.

Some of the featured dishes include mini flammkuchen from Germany; lasagna alla Bolognese accompanied by bruschetta with cherry tomatoes, olive oil, and basil from Italy; and bulgogi from South Korea.

A 15th Annual Food Fair Cookbook will be available for purchase at the event, offering guests a souvenir and the opportunity to replicate the dishes served at the fair.

A portion of all proceeds from the fair will go to the MSUB Multicultural Club, a student organization that celebrates the university’s diversity, and hosts intercultural events and activities to expose students and the Billings community to the world beyond Billings, Montana.

This family-friendly event is open to MSUB faculty, staff and students as well as the public. There is a $12 admission fee to sample the international cuisine. Free admission for children 10 and under. Current MSUB students can enjoy the fair using a valid meal card. Tickets will be sold at the door the day of the event.

The International Food fair is a fantastic opportunity to meet and interact with the international student community that have come to Billings from every corner of the world to study at MSUB. It is one of the largest and most popular events hosted by MSUB. In 2017, over 600 people attended the fair and each attendee left with a full stomach and a smile.

“The fair is a great way to learn about the various and magnificent cultures around the world,” added Beyer.
