MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES —The community is invited to join the MSU Billings Foundation for a backyard barbecue from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at 2615 Virginia Ln. in Billings.

Foundation staff and volunteers are grilling burgers and hot dogs, and serving ice cream. Cold beer and wine will be available to those age 21 and up. Kids and adults can reach the top of the climbing wall and play jumbo Jenga. Food and activities at the event are free.

The first day of summer also marks the kickoff of the Foundation’s “Brick by Brick” campaign. Be one of the first to purchase a brick during the barbecue; a 4x8” brick is $250, and an 8x8” brick is $500. Choose a message to be engraved, and leave a lasting legacy on the university campus.

MSU Billings Chancellor Dr. Dan Edelman is challenging the Billings community to donate, and he will match dollar for dollar up to $15,000 what the community commits to in the 10 days following the barbecue. Supporters can donate during the event to help the Foundation complete fundraising in the next two months. Brick purchases and gifts can also be made online at msubfoundation.com.

“The community has been incredibly supportive. More than 500 people have contributed to this building campaign, and we are getting close to the finish line. I hope my challenge will motivate even more people to support this much needed building,” said Chancellor Dan Edelman. “MSU Billings students receive a quality education from exceptional faculty when they pursue science and allied health degrees. However, we need a facility that is worthy and will serve faculty and students for years to come.”
