Pair of junior voice recitals announced by MSUB

April 1 recitals include Soprano Malia Howell at 3:00p.m. Mezzo-soprano Marisa Jane Getchell to perform at 7:30 p.m. Both performances at Cisel Recital Hall and free and open to the public.

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Soprano Malia Howell will perform her Junior Recital on 3:00p.m., April 1, in Cisel Recital Hall at Montana State University Billings.

Howell, a native of Arlington, Texas, graduated high school from Arlington where she studied voice with Natalie Mitchell.

 

An MSUB Vocal Performance and Music Education major, Howell studies voice with Assistant Professor of Music and Music Department Co-Chair Doug Nagel.

 

She has sung the leading soprano role in Nova’s “The Old Maid and the Thief” and “Don Pasquale.”  Additionally, Howell will sing as Miriam in Nova’s next opera “The Scarf.”

 

Howell’s junior recital will include guest artists Brooke Moncada, Marisa Getchell and Reagan Bunting. Accompanist is Tim Schoessler and the repertoire includes selections by Mahler, J. Strauss, Giordano, Offenbach and Puccini.

 

Marisa Getchell
Marisa Jane Getchell, a MSU Billings Vocal Performance major, will perform her Junior Recital the same day, at 7:30 pm in Cisel Recital Hall.

 

A native of Montana and daughter of Jody Getchell and Joan Ferguson, she grew up in Billings and graduated from Billings Central Catholic High School.

 

In addition to Music Performance, Getchell also studies English Literature.

 

Getchell has been very active in her singing career performing in the Rocky Invitational Honors Choir, in Nova’s “A Little Night Music”and Rimrock Opera’s “The Magic Flute.”

 

Mezzo-soprano, Getchell has been studying voice with Nagel and sings with MSUB’s Chamber Singers and University Chorus.

 

Accompanied by Tim Schoessler, Getchell will perform selections by Schubert, Mozart, Bizet, and many more. Sopranos Malia Howell, Brooke Moncada and mezzo-soprano Raegan Bunting will join Getchell in her recital.

 

The public is welcome to attend both recitals, free of charge.
