Kurt Wilson to start as KEMC/Yellowstone Public Radio General Manager July 5

MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Starting July 5, 2017 Kurt Wilson will take the helm at KEMC/Yellowstone Public Radio. Kurt graduated in 1985 from Central Michigan University with a degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts. He has spent the last 15 years in public media at Central Michigan University Public Broadcasting and the Virgin Islands Public Broadcasting System. He has been a television producer, executive producer, director of Corporate Support and Major Gifts, and a Chief Operating Officer. Wilson created, produced and hosted two local television programs, Quiz Central and Destination Michigan and also produced a handful of documentaries ranging from Barn Preservation to The Wheatland Music Festival. 

 

Throughout 30 years in the broadcasting business, Wilson has been a television sports director and news anchor and a radio and television play by play voice for college football and basketball at Central Michigan University and Weber State University. 

Wilson worked for nearly a decade as a minor league baseball play by play announcer in the Pioneer League and was a sports talk show host for the Utah Jazz Radio Network. 

 

Wilson has been married for 25 years to his wife Lisa and has three daughters, Kara 24, Haley 22, and Kelsi 20. 

 

Located on the western edge of the MSU Billings main campus, KEMC/Yellowstone Public Radio provides an important public service function for the university. The station provides news and cultural programming for more than 35,000 listeners residing in Montana and Northern Wyoming.  KEMC/YPR provides valuable communication linkages to areas of Montana not served by local news outlets, including regular news from the Montana Legislature from reporter Jackie Yamanaka.
