MSU BILLINGS NEWS SERVICES — Looking for something to do on Saturday? Parent and Family Day and MSUB Evening at the Zoo is sure to be a great time, with lots of activities scheduled all day long.

“It’s free and fun and this is just a great opportunity to support our Yellowjackets and for us to support our community,” said Jeff Rosenberry, interim associate dean of students. “The event is open not to just students and their families, but to faculty and staff and the community as well. We invite everyone to come out and have a great time.”

Some of the day’s highlights include Service Saturday, with volunteerism opportunities at places such as Billings Head Start, Wise Wonders, Moss Mansion and with the Billings Alliance at Harvest Fest in downtown.

You’ll also get a chance to support our Yellowjackets, with the Cross Country Yellowjacket Open taking place at Amend Park. Men’s soccer will face Simon Frasier at the City College Soccer Field in the afternoon.

A complimentary shuttle to the soccer game will be available from the University campus to City College and free chili from Wendy’s will be served during the match.

Highlighting the day is MSUB Evening at the Zoo, which is also free and open to the community.

Dinner at the zoo will be provided by Sodexo. They will be serving a "taco-in-a-bag" with beef and beans, assorted chips, diced tomatoes, onions, olives, jalapenos, cheese, salsa and sour cream. An assortment of canned beverages and water will also be served. Cookies and brownies will be available for dessert.

Director of Alumni Relations Sarah Brockel said the event is a popular one for alumni.

“There’s music and food, it’s a lot of fun to have both our students and their families together with our alumni at this event. It brings our entire MSUB community together,” she said.

In addition to being able to peruse Montana’s premier zoo and all of its animals, attendees will be entertained with live music by MSUB faculty and alumnus John Roberts Y Plan Blanco and student band DDX.

DDX member and MSUB music business major Darryn Lombard said the four-member band is “alternative folk pop,” and plays a mixed set of originals and cover songs.

While a RSVP is not required we would love to know if you are attending to better prepare food numbers. You can register for this FREE event HERE.
