MSU BILLINGS NEWS— The RN to baccalaureate degree in nursing program at Montana State University Billingsis now accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Accreditation was effective April 9, 2018 which was the date of the CCNE on-site evaluation. The official accreditation decree was received by MSUB earlier this month which covers the inaugural graduating class of RN to BSN program students. In August, 14 students graduated from the fully accredited RN to BSN program.

MSU Billings is now one of five colleges in Montana that have received this accreditation. The application process is demanding, and there is no guarantee that accreditation will be granted. Members of the nursing program worked diligently to compile an application followed by completing a CCNE on-site evaluation. Receiving national accreditation demonstrates that the program is following best practices, has met accreditation standards, and is offering quality training and education to future and existing nurses.

This is the initial accreditation for the RN to BSN program at MSUB and is valid for five years, extending to Dec. 31, 2023. At the Board of Commissioners meeting, CCNE approved accreditation for MSUB on Oct. 24. These standards will be reviewed once again when the five-year time period is met. The next accreditation evaluation will occur in the spring of 2023.

A Continuous Improvement Progress Report (CIPR) must be submitted by MSU Billings at the midpoint of the five-year term. This is required to ensure the program’s compliance with CCNE’s standards and check on its progress.

This nursing program in the College of Allied Health Professions is extremely proud of this great honor and will continue to grow and develop its program and future professionals.
