Deanna Utroske
Evening Wings

Bright reflections accelerate
past metallic feathers in the night.
Street lamps wink
at the raven-blue enamel.

Rain

falls

drips

drops

splashes

to the pavement.

Drizzling reflections swirl
amidst puddles.
Jagged light jewels
the sky;
crack-boom,
THUNDER
startles the silent Bird.

We look away and return
at dawn
to stand in the mist,
our shoes
damp.

Captivated
We stare at the car,
at the Thunderbird,
our images
mirrored
in its storm-preened wings.
