Active Organizations
The following alphabetical listings of student organizations were registered as active organizations with MSU-Billings as of Spring 2003. The status of an organization may change during the course of a year. New student organizations also form throughout the year. Please check with the Student Union & Activities Office if a question arises regarding a particular group. For more information on student organization chartering and annual registration procedures, see Student Affairs Policies & Procedures section, Part V. of this handbook.
Contact Information
There are two ways to contact an officer or advisor of a particular organization.

Leave a written message in a student organization mailbox. Mailboxes for all active student organizations are located in the Student Organization Resource/Work Room, Student Union Room 220.

Contact the Student Union & Activities Office for specific information. A current computer database is maintained on all active student organizations. Information for the current academic year is collected from student organizations in September. Current information is entered into the student organization database as it is submitted by organization officers.
Getting Involved in an Organization
Membership eligibility in student organizations is based on interest and in some cases on academic achievement. Student organization officers must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale in order to hold office. Students are encouraged to affiliate with at least one student organization during their college career.
New students at MSU Billings who completed and returned a Student Organization Interest Form will have their name forwarded to groups selected. If you do not hear from a particular student organization that you have expressed an interest in, please contact the Student Union & Activities Office for specific contact information.

Accounting Club

To promote and support accounting students and provide opportunities for students to participate in activities that develop their individual skills and abilities; to promote interaction among and between accounting students, COB faculty, and the accounting community; to help students learn about the accounting profession and career opportunities.
American Chemical Society
The objectives of this chapter shall be to afford the opportunity for students of chemical science to become better acquainted, to secure the intellectual stimulation that arises from professional association, to obtain experience in preparing and presenting technical material before chemical audiences, to foster a professional spirit among members, to instill a professional pride in the chemical sciences, and to foster an awareness of the responsibilities and challenges of the modern chemist.
American College of Healthcare Executives
To promote educational development of skills necessary for the effective leadership in healthcare organizations, provide information about career alternatives and job opportunities in the field of healthcare management as well as developing an association with local and regional healthcare executive groups to enhance academic and career opportunities.
American Design-Drafting Association
To disseminate technical information for improving the science of graphic communications and design; to initiate and encourage a continued program of education so as to provide self-improvement and progress through increased knowledge; and to foster a spirit of fellowship among its members.
American Indian Business Leaders

To utilize student foundation to stimulate tribal economic growth and stability through an emphasis on maintaining culturally appropriate American Indian Business development.
Art Students’ League
To provide for the support of students interested in all forms of art and to promote interest in the arts. To increase art related activities and knowledge for students in this field. The ASL is the art students’ spokes-group on the campus.
Associated Students of Montana State University-Billings (ASMSU-Billings)

To encourage constructive relationships among the students, the faculty, and the administration; to supplement and complement formal education on the MSU-Billings campus; to represent student interests, needs, and welfare within the university campus; to provide for the expression of student opinion and interests to the community at large on issues affecting student life; and to protect the privileges and rights of students.
Baha’i Club
The purpose of this association shall be to acquaint those interested with the tenets of the Baha’i Faith, by sponsoring such things as service projects, firesides, informal gatherings, and social activities.
Baptist Student Union
The purpose of this organization is to provide a Christian witness and fellowship for the MSU-Billings campus community and to promote Christian spiritual awareness and growth in the campus community.
Bookpackers AA Group
This is a campus-based AA group focused on meeting on a daily basis or as needed.
Catholic Campus Ministry
To encourage college-age young adults of Billings in an active participation in the life of the Roman Catholic Church. Tries to provide a home-like atmosphere where college-age young adults may grow, mature in Faith, Hope, and Love and may be of service to the world. It also serves to cultivate an active Christian community out of which will develop intelligent Catholic lay leaders.
Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship

To provide an inter-denominational spirit-filled fellowship for all students. To help equip the spiritual and social lives of students through reconciliation to Christ.
College of Business Student Advisory Board

The purpose of the STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD shall be to (a) keep the College of Business and its programs closely attuned to the needs of current and future students in the State of Montana and the Northwest Region, and (b) assist in ensuring that the programs and activities of the College of Business are productive and of high quality.

College Music Educators National Conference (CMENC)
To make available to members, opportunities for professional development; to acquaint students with the privileges and responsibilities of the music education profession; to provide for its members, opportunities to become acquainted with leaders in the music profession as gained from participation in programs and demonstrations, discussions, and performing groups planned by this chapter, the state music educators association, and the Music Educators National Conference; to assist the school in various projects through the year; and to provide opportunity for contract with CMENC student member of other schools.

Drama Committee
To direct student funds from the Student Senate of MSU-Billings, exclusively for the purposes of producing on-campus theater, and promoting the experience of Drama to the student body and the Billings Community; to serve as an advocate for the performing arts on campus, as well as a visual and auditory medium for the disinclined and silenced community; and to entertain the MSU-Billings student body, as well as to increase social awareness and sensitivity in the campus community.
Eastern Montana Karate Club
To provide a traditional martial arts club for the staff and students of Montana State University-Billings and to enhance the health and well-being of its members.
Environmental Awareness Club
To provide students the collective resources to become effectively involved in promoting environmental issues; to implement plans and campaigns that will increase participation in ecologically sound practices and make people aware of their impact on the environment; and to promote a spirit of cooperation and innovation on campus and throughout the community.

History Club/ Phi Alpha Theta
To promote the study of history; to develop leadership of its members; to promote high standards of scholarship; to provide active service and participation in any campus event or activity whenever possible; and to promote the well-being of Montana State University-Billings at all times.
Honors Club
The purpose of the Honors Program Club is to promote the involvement of University Honors Programs students in social, cultural, and service activities on campus and in the local and larger communities.

Inter-Tribal Indian Club

To assist Indian students in their adjustment to college life, to promote better scholastic ability through encouragement to other students to attend a college, to foster pride in the racial and cultural heritage of the American Indian and to encourage participation in social activities. Also to help build a bond with Native American culture and Native community as well as produce an annual Pow Wow.

The intent of our group is to provide leadership opportunities for Montana State University - Billings students connect to the campus through them. The purpose of the organization is to provide leadership opportunities for Montana State University - Billings’ students and to have available students to help tour and recruit prospective students. Current students will provide a service to prospective students by giving tours, assisting with designated programs, helping acclimate new students to Montana State University - Billings, and sharing with prospective students their own perspective in college.
Latter-Day Saint Student Association
To encourage and support member of LDSSA in achieving their academic goals and maintaining a balanced life while on campus; to encourage members of LDSSA to become an influence for good by participating in activities and service on campus and in the community; and to provide students with meaningful service opportunities and social and religious activities that are consistent with LDSSA standards.
Marketing Club
The purpose of the Marketing Club shall be to enhance and implement our understanding of academic life. To include in our club the implementation of educational outreach programs, to build and maintain a working relationship with the local businesses and entrepreneurs, and to establish fundraising activities.
Montana Student Nurse’s Association
To assume responsibility for contributing to nursing education; for high quality health care, provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interest, concerns and to aid in the development of the professional role and the students’ responsibility for health care of people in all walks of life.
National English Honor Society
To confer distinction for high achievement in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies in English language and literature; to provide cultural stimulation on college campuses through its local chapters and promote interest in English language and literature; to foster community interest within English departments through its local chapters; to promote high standards of academic excellence, exemplary character, and good fellowship among its members; and to serve society by fostering literacy.
NORML/SSDP
The purpose of this organization shall be to educate the public on the harms associated with marijuana prohibition and influence public policy towards strategies that reduce these harms.
Percussion Club
To promote percussion at MSU-Billings and in the Billings community and to promote percussion and supplemental educational activities that fall into the category of percussion.
Potters' Guild
To further promote the advancement of Ceramic technique beyond the classroom procedures and promote professionalism in the field of Ceramics.
PRIDE
The purpose of PRIDE is to provide information, referral, and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their friends and family; provide education, tolerance, public awareness, and social activities. PRIDE aims to assist in the creation and affirmation of positive self-identities, and in the promotion and defense of the human and civil rights of all people.
Psi Chi National Psychology Honor Society

To advance the science of psychology, and to encourage, stimulate and maintain scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology.
Real Life: College and Career
Real Life College and Career is a ministry of Faith Chapel Foursquare Church, and is a Christian organization seeking to love God and people.
Residence Hall Association (RHA)
To act as the official voice for residence hall students on the MSU-Billings campus, representing resident student concerns to college administrators, and other campus student organizations, and to coordinate residence hall functions and activities. All students living in the residence halls have the privilege of being an RHA member. For more information, please go to Room 221 in the Student Union Building.
Sigma Tau Delta - Mu Sigma Chapter

Skills USA/VICA
VICA is intended as a nationally supported avenue for technical, industrial, and health majors to improve their professional and personal skills, knowledge, and abilities. VICA will facilitate a greater level of learning for its members and improve the standing of involved University students. VICA will provide educational and competitive opportunities for its members.
Spanish Club

Student Activities Board

To strengthen and broaden the social and academic experience of disadvantaged students in Student Opportunity Services, and to connect them with other MSU-Billings students and the campus.
Student Volunteers of MSU-Billings
To provide students with the opportunity to get involved in volunteer work for both the campus and the community. To promote involvement by the students of MSU-Billings in their campus and community.
The Rook
One student literary/art magazine is published per year. It is student compiled, edited, and published in conjunction with a publishing concern deemed appropriate by the current editorial board.
United Campus Ministry

To provide a dynamic understanding of the Christian faith and the Christ-like witness to the MSU-Billings community.
United Hispanic Club
The United Hispanic Club of MSU-Billings will assist students to achieve academic success, as well as provide opportunities to network with professionals in the community for transition into the workplace. The club shall strive to foster pride in the cultural heritage of the Hispanic American Student as it provides cultural activities and community partnerships for all students at MSU-Billings.
Vox/Students for Choice
This organization exists to educate the university community about reproductive health and rights; to service as a coalition partner to state, national, and international reproductive rights efforts.
