I teach a variety of courses in sociology and criminal justice. After earning B.A. and M.A. degrees in sociology at Utah State University, I went on to receive a Ph.D. in sociology at Oklahoma State University where I specialized in criminology/deviance and environmental sociology. I conduct research on conservation law enforcement and hunting issues. In the past I’ve done research on wildlife violators and conservation officers. I’m currently conducting research on hunting in Montana. Topics include trophy hunting in contemporary society, and attitudes of those associated with the hunting industry. In addition to hunters, I’m studying game wardens, taxidermists, and outfitters. My work has been published in a variety of journals including Deviant Behavior, The Journal of Social Psychology, Society and Animals, Sociological Imagination, Great Plains Sociologist, Human Dimensions of Wildlife, Wildlife Society Bulletin, Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies and Management, The Police Journal, Police Forum, and the Southwest Journal of Criminal Justice. In my free time I enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, walking, traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. |
