Indian Education For All D2L Class
We all recognize the importance of science instruction to our Montana students and for our future in a global economy. Montana recently completed the revision of the science standards. The revised standards include an emphasis on Inquiry-based instruction. According to the National Research Council, a significant change in science instruction with an emphasis on inquiry necessitates a substantive change in professional development. The Montana Regional Education Area III is working in collaboration with the Office of Public Instruction, Montana State University Billings, and educators from Region III to offer Level I Inquiry-based instruction to teachers in your school. Level I Inquiry-based instruction introduces teachers to this method. Examples of inquiry instruction, as opposed to hands on instruction, are provided so teachers have a basis of understanding and an orientation to this method of teaching. The New Science Standards trainers have developed content standardized by OPI for presentation to your teachers. Relevance to Indian Education For All is part of this content. The workshops can be presented in two to three hour blocks of time.
