Indian Education for All Online Course

Montana Code Annotated 20-1-501 is known as the American Indian Education for All law. The law means that all public school students should learn accurate and authentic information about American Indians in their classrooms and all school personnel should have an understanding of accurate and authentic American Indian history and contemporary issues.

This course provides awareness of the history of MCA 20-1-501, and the Seven Essential Understandings regarding Montana’s American Indian Tribes. The Seven Essential Understandings reflect the great diversity among the 12 tribal Nations of Montana and their languages, cultures, histories and governments.

The online course consists of pre- and post-tests, resources, reflections, materials, and an evaluation. It can be completed in approximately six hours and interested participants can receive six OPI renewal units. The course can be completed in one session or over several sessions.
