14th Annual Water Summit
MSU Billings

Come participate in a natural resources learning experience that
addresses watershed issues in Montana. This year’s focus is on wetlands.
Come ready to work hard and play hard! Activities and Lessons: ~Visit
local wetlands and riparian areas—urban and rural, natural and
constructed. ~Explore impacts of Yellowstone River oil spill. ~Wetlands’
role in water quality protection and flood control. ~Participate in
group problem-solving watershed activities. ~Practice water monitoring
protocols. ~Share your water monitoring activities with peers.
Registration Fee: *Cost includes lessons, tours,
meals, accommodations, substitute teacher fees, and most travel
expenses. Cost for teachers is $45. Cost for Students is $25.
Scholarships available for people in need.

Each teacher may bring up to five students

The top 30 student applicants will be accepted into the
program. Applications will be “graded” based on leadership
potential, dedication to environmental awareness and community
involvement. Handwritten or typed format is acceptable. No re-writes
will be available. Teachers are encouraged to review student essays
prior to submission.

Winning applicants will have the following expenses covered:
Water Summit lessons, meals, lodging, transportation and substitute
teacher fees. (Note: this excludes the cost of registration listed
above. ALL applicants must pay the registration fee.)

Students who are interested in attending the 2012 Water Summit
must fill out the “Student Application,” respond to the essay
questions provided herein, and submit a letter
