Cindy Dell called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. in the Chancellor’s Conference Room.

 

The October 31 meeting minutes were accepted as presented.

It was stated that the changes to the AS in Allied Health are to give pre-nursing students who do not make it into the Bozeman nursing school an out, so they can at least earn a degree.

It was noted that these courses are rarely taught, so they are being deleted.  The department has a lot of field courses, so ERTH 495 is redundant.

Item 31  BS Major in Health Administration.  Modification to an existing program.

Item 31.a  HADM 210 Healthcare Mega Trends.  Change title to Introduction to the U.S. Healthcare System and change course description.

Item 31.b  HADM 310 Healthcare Economics.  Change prerequisites.

Item 31.c  HADM 496 Cooperative Education/Internship.  Change prerequisite.

Item 31.d  HADM 497 Capstone.  Change number to 499 (for CCN), change prerequisites, and change course description.

Item 31.e  HADM 325 Principles of Marketing for Healthcare Organizations.  New course.

Item 31.f  HADM 365 Managing the Continuum of Long-Term Care Services.  New course.

 

- Motion by Carl Castles, seconded by John Hoover to approve Items 31 through 31.f on first reading.

 

Deb Peters, Director of the Health Administration Program, stated that they want to offer the best program they can and give their students more options and more flexibility to help prepare for what’s coming in healthcare reform.  The entire program is offered online.  They are removing the required business minor, as many students just don’t need that.  Instead, an optional business concentration is being added, as well as concentrations in Health Information Technology and Long-Term Care.

Item 8  BA Major in Music Teaching Licensure Option.  Modification to an existing program.

Item 8.a  Minor in Music.  Modification to an existing program.

 

It was noted that there are some clerical errors in the Suggested Plan of Study for the BA.  It was agreed that, since no one is present from Music, Item 8 should be sent back to the Music Department for correction.
